COGNITIVE COMPONENT OF GIRLS' SEXUAL IDENTITY
УДК 159.9.07
Abstract
The global transformation of social norms and moral criteria, as well as the widespread digitalization, have had a significant impact on the gender identity of adolescents, which justifies the relevance of this study. The purpose of this article is to explore the structure of the cognitive component of girls' gender identity during different periods of adolescence. The study involved 198 adolescent girls aged 13-16. Psychodiagnostic techniques: N.L. Belopolskaya's technique "Sex-Age Identification" (from 12 years and older), L.N. Ozhigova's questionnaire "I am a Woman (Man)", and I.S. Kletsin's questionnaire "Proverbs". Mathematical and statistical processing of empirical data was carried out using the analysis of average values and Spearman correlation analysis. Thus, girls at the age of 13 have a higher level of conformity to gender role stereotypes. A sharp decline in indicators occurs in girls at the age of 15. It has been shown that traditional gender role attitudes are most pronounced in adolescent girls at the age of 13, while egalitarian attitudes prevail in adolescent girls at the age of 14. Most adolescent girls have a well-developed gender role identity. Nevertheless, 15-27% have a low level of self-identification by gender and age. At the same time, adolescent girls who have a high level of conformity to gender role stereotypes are focused on their future gender and age status, expressing interest in their older age and explaining that the future age is more attractive, with more opportunities and fewer restrictions.
