IMPACT OF HEGEMONIC MASCULINITY ON THE FORMATION OF RESPONSIBLE FATHERHOOD
УДК 159.9
Abstract
This article discusses the model of responsible fatherhood and the possibility of influencing its formation by the principles of hegemonic masculinity. The relevance of the study is due to the need for the participation of fathers in the upbringing of children - on the one hand, and the results of studies demonstrating the cyclical refusals of fathers to take responsibility for the child - on the other. The authors of the article suggest a possible reason for the refusal of fathers from responsibility for children in the previously formed principles of masculinity. The aim of the work is to consider the phenomenon of "responsible fatherhood", highlight the qualities necessary for its implementation in modern men and study its formation through the prism of the influence of hegemonic masculinity. The paper uses theoretical methods of analysis, synthesis and systematization of information, a review of domestic and foreign research on the topic. Such concepts as paternity, responsible paternity, and hegemonic masculinity stand out for analysis. Article authors present model of responsible fatherhood. In conclusion, authors note that the previously formed principles of hegemonic masculinity in the upbringing of boys do not correspond to the modern requirements of society, as well as the need to include new principles of role behavior in the gender education of boys that are relevant to modern ideas about parenthood.
