ANALYSIS OF THE BALANCE BETWEEN EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL MOTIVATION AMONG CIVIL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AND CADETS OF THE MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS OF RUSSIA

Abstract
The relevance of this research stems from the increasing demands placed on graduates of modern universities. In the quest for ways to enhance the educational process, the authors focused on a key psychological and pedagogical factor that contributes to successful outcomes: motivation. This study explores the essential features of motivation, which are categorized as internal and external motivation. The type of motivation—whether internal or external—significantly influences the nature and direction of students' efforts. This article provides a brief overview of the preliminary results from the empirical study that examined the balance between internal and external motivation for educational activities among students at various stages of professional training in a classical university, as well as among cadets at the University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Investigating motivational factors while considering the unique characteristics of different student populations is crucial for optimizing the learning process. By better understanding how to effectively influence students' motivation at various stages of their professional development, educators can enhance educational outcomes. The primary objective of this study is to analyze the ratios of external and internal motivation for educational activities among civil university students and cadets at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia across different levels of professional training.
The research employs several methods, including theoretical analysis and generalization, comparative analysis, empirical testing, and mathematical analysis of empirical data, complemented by graphical methods for data interpretation. The theoretical significance of this study lies in identifying differences in motivation types among civil university students at different educational stages compared to cadets of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The scientific novelty is found in the comparative analysis of empirical data collected during the ascertaining phase of the experiment, shedding light on the motivational dynamics of these two distinct groups.
